Who we’re looking for

We are a commercial contractor located in Medford, OR.  Metal Buildings are our specialty, and we are looking for an iron worker / metal building erector with experience hanging red iron and erecting Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings. If you’re up to the challenge, bring your bags and we will provide the rest.

Your workday might look like this

  • Bolt and weld metal beams and columns together and ensure all are properly level
  • Use cranes and telehandlers to hoist and position metal components into place
  • Rig, hoist and move metallic items within the work area
  • Dismantle steelworks for renovation or demo purposes
  • Cut and weld metal sections using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment
  • Erect precast concrete components for metal structures
  • Assemble hoisting equipment or rigging, including cables, pulleys and hooks

You need to have

  • Commercial Construction Experience
  • Metal Building Installation Experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team and supervisors
  • Ability to travel to out of town jobs
  • Reliable transportation to get to and from job sites
  • OSHA 10 or 30 a plus

  • Build Forms
  • Set forms
  • Tie Rebar
  • Place, level, and smooth concrete, using rakes, shovels, hand or power trowels, and float
  • Finish Concrete – Both rough and fine finishing
  • Use powered or manual concrete tools and equipment

You need to have

  • Commercial Concrete Experience

You need to have

  • 1+ years’ experience with any of the following: excavator, backhoe, front end loader, tractor, or other heavy equipment.

Who we’re looking for

The Superintendent is responsible for reviewing and directing crew members at site installations in accordance with the company’s policy requirements as well as the customer’s specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in the commercial construction industry, understanding of the specific quality control issues inherent to construction sites, and knowledge in building facilities.

The Site Superintendent must be thorough and observant with an eye for detail. He/she must fully understand requirements and have a results-driven approach to achieving high quality.

Your workday might look like this

  • Daily field management of field personnel, subcontractors and suppliers Set forms
  • Implementation of the safety plan
  • Daily field reports
  • Project cost control and scheduling
  • Interact and collaborate with the Owner and Architect
  • Coordinate inspections
  • Project close-out (punch list, occupancy and final acceptance)

You need to have

  • 10+ years proven experience in construction industry
  • Experience supervising self-perform work preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to travel to out of town jobs
  • Reliable transportation to get to and from job sites
  • OSHA-30 training

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

The JB Steel, Inc. is seeking to add a Metal Building Detailer to our team.

We are looking for talented, enthusiastic, and experienced individual. Awesome work environment, friendly staff, competitive pay.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for talented, enthusiastic, and experienced individual. Detailers will design and detail stairs, guardrail, and miscellaneous metal products from structural and architectural drawings and specifications and following all applicable building codes. Shop drawings will be created using AutoCad. This is a position that requires a strong work ethic, willingness to learn and assist, to help complete projects in a timely fashion.

Your workday might look like this

  • Review structural and architectural drawings and specifications for conflicts/questions.
  • Miscellaneous steel detailing — stairs, ladders and railings
  • Structural steel detailing may also be required
  • Work with Project Management to create RFIs.
  • Checking contract documents, RFI’s, specifications, etc. to ensure drawings are accurate
  • Use AutoCAD to create shop drawings and erection plans.
  • Adhere to applicable building codes and company design standards.
  • Review and revise drawings based on engineering calculations, architect’s notes and instruction, and field conditions.
  • Assist fabricators with questions, as necessary.
  • Revise drawings as directed through accepted bulletins and contract changes Assist in the definition of contract bid packages and coordinate scopes of work
  • Communicate and reinforce the Company vision, values and goals
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction

You need to have

  • Experience with Misc. metal/steel detailing using AutoCAD
  • Comprehension of and ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, etc.
  • Highly organized and committed to producing accurate and complete work
  • Friendly personality and willing to work as part of a team

The JB Steel, Inc. team is looking for a go-getter Project Manager.

Who we’re looking for

To be successful in this role you will need to manage industrial and commercial construction jobs from concept to turn-key. Coordinate schedules and services, manage budgets, and ensure all work is performed skillfully, efficiently and within the timeline and estimate. You will need to bring your leadership, organizational, and management skills to the table.

Your workday might look like this

  • Assist with pre-construction activities as needed:  construction planning and design; interpretation of design and drawings; application of construction methods; bid packages
  • Interpret designs and drawings; prepares takeoffs; researches and recommends resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts and errors
  • Maintain submittal logs and timely receipt and review of submittals and shop drawings
  • Recognize change conditions with respect to the contract and notifies appropriate parties
  • Coordinate inspections and testing of work
  • Assemble construction financial data; monitors costs; tracks costs for force accounts
  • Ensure time coded to  are completed accurately, reflecting hours worked and tasks worked on; assigns cost codes to all purchases, time cards, contracts, equipment time and any other item involving cost
  • Assist Superintendent with daily field reports
  • Create correspondence to owners, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, etc.
  • Maintain as-built drawings and RFI logs
  • Assist with constructability reviews and value engineering functions
  • Assist in the definition of contract bid packages and coordinate scopes of work
  • Assist in project close-out activities
  • Communicate and reinforce the Company vision, values and goals
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction

You need to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related discipline from an accredited educational institution
  • 5+ years in the construction industry, preferably Design/Build and/or industrial and commercial construction.
  • Must have broad working knowledge, skills, and abilities of materials, methods, and tools related to design and build construction; specifically commercial/industrial wood, steel and concrete construction
  • Good computer skills with Microsoft operating systems and Office Software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and MS Project. Ability to learn new software quickly (i.e. Timberline)
  • Excellent math, reading, writing, and communication skills with diverse audiences
  • Highly organized and efficient time management
