If you have previous experience operating construction equipment such as a backhoe, bulldozer, excavator, front
end loader or grader to excavate, move and grade earth and install structures, we want to hear from you!

You’ll be successful if you have a positive attitude and work well with a fast-paced team.

Your workday might look like this:

  • Operating Heavy Equipment in a construction environment
  • Conduct Heavy Equipment safety checks, and preventative maintenance

Metal Buildings are our specialty, and we are looking for an iron worker / metal building erector with experience hanging red iron and erecting Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings. If you’re up to the challenge, bring your bags and we will provide the rest. You’ll be successful if you have a positive attitude and work well with a fast-paced team.

Your workday might look like this:

  • Bolt and weld metal beams and columns together and ensure all are properly level
  • Use cranes and telehandlers to hoist and position metal components into place
  • Rig, hoist and move metallic items within the work area
  • Dismantle steelworks for renovation or demo purposes
  • Cut and weld metal sections using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment
  • Erect precast concrete components for metal structures

We are a commercial contractor located in Medford, Oregon, licensed and working throughout the Pacific Northwest. We do big concrete. JB STEEL self-performs structural concrete work on some of the most technically challenging projects in our area. You’ll be successful if you can hustle, do layout, tie re-bar, and finish. Experience with tilt-ups or other technically challenging projects a huge plus!

Apprenticeship:

This is a great program developed with RCC, registered with BOLI and sponsored by JB STEEL. This apprenticeship provides intensive training in the steel and structural side of construction – teaching skills such as pre-assembly, assembly, hoisting, Trim and flashing, along with reading job plans and specifications. As you move through the program you will earn raises until you complete the program and become an official card-carrying journey level worker. It is a true earn as you learn program that can potentially leave you with little to no debt.

Your workday might look like this:

  • Assist with pre-construction activities as needed: construction planning and design; interpretation of
    design and drawings; application of construction methods; bid packages

You need to have:

The JB STEEL is seeking to add a Structural Steel Detailer to our team.

Who we’re looking for:

We are looking for talented, enthusiastic, and experienced individual. Detailers will design and detail stairs, guardrail, and miscellaneous metal products from structural and architectural drawings and specifications and following all applicable building codes. Shop drawings will be created using AutoCad. This is a position that requires a strong work ethic, willingness to learn and assist, to help complete projects in a timely fashion.

Your workday might look like this:

  • Review structural and architectural drawings and specifications for conflicts/questions.
  • Miscellaneous steel detailing — stairs, ladders and railings
  • Structural steel detailing may also be required
  • Work with Project Management to create RFIs.
  • Checking contract documents, RFI’s, specifications, etc. to ensure drawings are accurate
  • Use AutoCAD to create shop drawings and erection plans.
  • Adhere to applicable building codes and company design standards.
  • Review and revise drawings based on engineering calculations, architect’s notes and instruction, and field conditions.
  • Assist fabricators with questions, as necessary.
  • Revise drawings as directed through accepted bulletins and contract changes Assist in the definition of contract bid packages and coordinate scopes of work
  • Communicate and reinforce the Company vision, values and goals
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction

You need to have:

  • Experience with Misc. and structural steel detailing using AutoCAD
  • Comprehension of and ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, etc.
